I am interested in the new ICOM ic-7000 rig - possibly for my truck. I know KN3V has a few of these and several others have them as well. Does the rig receive on 2 bands simultaneously? In other words, can I monitor my 2m freq while I tune around HF? _________________ N3HIA |

Hey Rick,
No, it does not have dual receive.
I plan on adding a 2M/440 rig, possibly with xband rpt, so I can do exactly what you mentioned.
That is an easy addition, especially if you have a remote mount unit like a Yaesu FT-8800 or 8900. Both units with remote mounts don't take up a lot of room up front.
The DSP on HF is worth the 7000's weight in gold.
Really. really nice. You have to try it on noisy band/crowded conditions/ etc to really have some fun with it.
The biggest advantage is the DSP is in the IF section, not just audio.
BTW if you want to take it for a spin, just let me know.
You are welcome to play with it for as long as you like.
BTW when are you going to change my callsign _________________ Karl (KN3V) formerly KB3JKG |

Thanks Rick.
No problem logging in and previous posts changed to KN3V.
Photo gallery allows KN3V login, but album still shows as KB3JKG.
I can go into my own gallery and perform edits, etc as KN3V without any problems.
Not a big deal, as long as I can get to the pics to upload and edit, I'm happy.
If you feel like messing with it, it can stay as is and I can start another KN3V album. Only change it if you feel like messing with the gallery software.

Anyone seen the IC-7000 receive television signals? I've attached a link below...
Since the DTV transition is looming, I expect that this won't work anymore - but I wonder if it will receive ATV signals on 430MHz?? Anyone played with this?

Rick,
I'll give it a try, but I seem to remember the video output "muting" outside the analog VHF channels.
I'll post my results.
Anyone else tried this ? _________________ Karl (KN3V) formerly KB3JKG |
